I was totally channeling my mother this morning when I ripped a scrap out of the newspaper, sputtering. She'd have done the same, and circled the offending bit in red pen, and left it for me to read the next time I visited.
I'm just sharing it with you.
(And yes, I checked. The oh-so-egregious error was fixed in the on-line edition of the Times.)
Who is, INDEED!
ReplyDeleteWhose WHAT is coming to dinner?
ReplyDeleteWho boy!
ReplyDeleteI see so many typos every day in our paper (a major one), and it drives me insane.
ReplyDeleteNow you need to file that sucker and really channel your mom.
ReplyDeleteBut good catch!!
I like bibliomama's comment, and your tag "cranky."
ReplyDeleteMy mother used red pencil. On my letters, too.
ReplyDeleteShocking!
ReplyDeleteAUGH. How am I supposed to teach children the right way to write (and speak) the English language if this is what adults produce?
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or does it seem that less time is spent on editing/proofreading these days? Am I just getting better at spotting such errors? Am I getting old and cranky?
ReplyDeleteTo which I say, "You're turning into your mother!!!" Or would that be -your turning into you're mother.
