In a fit of optimism, because we've never tried to communicate this way, I texted my 76 year old father when we arrived in Newport a few weeks ago. (I knew he was in a meeting, and didn't want to interrupt with a phone call.)
He answered me 16 days later.
I think maybe texting isn't going to be the way.
P.S. Mental P Mama posts parentexts every Tuesday. But hers are with her kids, not her older parents!
Hahaha! So funny.
ReplyDeleteI'd find it funnier if I didn't identify more with your father than with you.
ReplyDeleteHilarious! If he's anything like my mother, he had to charge the phone in order to get the text.
ReplyDeleteLast month I taught my mother how to check her cell phone voice mail. She retrieved a test message, left probably a year ago, by my father. (He died in June.)
ReplyDeleteThis is really funny! I wonder if he realized you texted him 16 days ago? Because if not, it changes up the whole meaning of your exchange :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a total crack-up. My stepdad sent his first text in response to one I sent him. He said it took like half an hour.
ReplyDeleteI love that. I tried texting my mom recently (she "knows" how to text) with a question that had a yes/no answer. I thought she could easily reply - she called me back. Repeatedly. The reason I texted in the first place was to tell her what happened in the "no phones allowed" doctors office.
ReplyDeleteThat is hysterical!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh today :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I try to text, I'm all thumbs.
ReplyDelete:-D
okay this genuinely made me laugh
ReplyDelete16 days! LMAO.
ReplyDeleteMy parents just got Skype. My mother comes over to tell us she is going to Skype us. It is almost an hour round trip.
Too funny. This could be a text exchange between me and my 73-year-old father.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, in my case, the roles would be reversed, since he texts constantly (incessantly, even) and I, um, don't.
niobe
Hey, at least you didn't get 300 identical messages from a mother on a trip to England...
ReplyDeleteHa. Adorable!
ReplyDeletethat is so awesome...my emails to my dad are like that...we haven't gone there on texts...
