Little Lists

Cleaning up the house, I found a little list, drafted by the girl and a friend:

They've been making elaborate plans to sell things and raise money for either their American Girl Doll Club* or for charity**. In fact, they were selling rocks door to door one day. They really want a table at the farmer's market, but except for the home-grown rocks, none of it really qualifies as local produce.

Instead, they're going to set up shop at the end of my driveway. I'll let you know when they do, because you know you need to buy:
  1. Rocks
  2. Books
  3. Beads
  4. Lemonade
  5. Knick-knacks
  6. American Girl Doll Club passes
  7. Wands
  8. Brooms
  9. Old Toys We Don't Need
  10. Toy Trucks
  11. Paper Dolls
  12. Origami
  13. Legos
  14. Puppets
  15. Coloring Books
So entrepreneurial. Maybe she'll put herself through college.

*They invented the American Girl Doll Club. It has very complicated by-laws, and I think I'm an officer. Sometimes you have to buy a pass to belong, other times they just hand them out on the bus. There might be a soap-box derby race involved. It's all very confusing. I just smile and nod.

**Ah, charity. I've tried to get her to be a little more specific, and I don't get much farther than "someplace that helps old people", or "the library". I keep telling her that if you're selling rocks for "charity", people are going to want to know where the money's going.

  3. oh, wow. my sisters and i had a cat club. our neighbors joined, for a small donation. i can't remember what we did with the money, but suspect it was along the lines of penny candy.

i was laughing about the rocks for sale, but then i remembered pet rocks.

  6. i love the thought of selling rocks. for charity.

my kids wanted a lemonade stand this weekend. (thankfully i thought) we didnt have any lemonade, or lemons.

so they decided to sell water.

when i said i was concerned no one would want to buy water, they said, "don't worry. we'll call it water flavored lemonade."

  9. So sweet. It shows they're thinking!

Last summer, the V-meister found a jagged piece of glass in our backyard and was going to try to sell it for ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

  10. Ha! "I just smile and nod." Yup. I find many childhood inventions are just too complex for an adult mind to follow.
