- That first cup of coffee in the morning
- The sun shining in the brilliant blue sky
- Shuffle on my iPod
- This charming M - for me and for Mayberry. [You can find your own decorative initial(s) here.]
- Sheepskin slippers
- Gorgonzola
- The girlie reading books to me
- Clean sheets
- Slitting open the package of Peeps so they ripen in time for Easter
- Dinner every night with my husband and child
mmm. gorgonzola makes me happy, too.
ReplyDeletePeeps need to ripen? I need to be enlightened. I had no idea.
ReplyDeleteAw, my beautiful girl makes me happy. OK, she actually peed in the bed this morning. So I wasn't happy precisely at *that* moment.
ReplyDeleteBut her little face. Her little nose. Her little eyes. Her little voice.
I guess that's boring though.
Hah, I'm a grouch. Some of the things that make me unadulteratedly happy are not common and everyday--like tropical vacations.
My gym makes me happy. The smell of eucalyptus in the steam room. The hot tub, when it is hot enough. Yoga classes.
Hotel rooms, alone. I love hotel rooms.
Clearly, I need to work on finding more happiness in the everyday.
The nights when I feel sleepy when I turn out the light and not wide awake and only turning out the light because the time seems appropriate.
ReplyDeleteOne of my kids sleeping beside me while I read in bed.
My husband trying to carry my enormous son back to his bed, while enormous son fights to get back to Daddy's spot.
Bringing food to grieving people -- useless gestures should always be edible and involve chocolate. And it's a different kind of happy.
Hmmm, I love the feel of a little person hand stroking my arm absentmindedly when I read to them. The gooey look my husband gives me out of the blue sometimes. Fresh sheets. A crackling fire. And friends like you.
ReplyDeleteGreat question.
ReplyDelete1) hearing all 3 of my varmints breathing while they sleep. It makes me melt.
2) Watching the hubby eat a twinkie.
3) Chocolate ganache.
5) I totally agree on the clean sheets.
6) Counting the freckles on my daughter's face.
7) Walking on the beach of an enormous ocean.
8) Mango sorbet.
9) Fleece socks.
10) Peach pie.
Ripening Peeps! That is excellent.
ReplyDeletemmmm, I <3 crispy peeps!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your list. A former roommate taught me that peeps trick. (Jewish kids don't learn about peeps at home.)
ReplyDeleteAh. I'm due for a post like this. Thanks. :)
ReplyDelete1. That fresh, after-bath baby scent.
ReplyDelete2. dark chocolate. Really, really dark chocolate.
3. A good night's sleep (with two newborns at home, sleep has become rather elusive).
4. My TV
5. The first sip of coffee in the morning.
