The first grader brings home an eccentric mishmosh of books from the school library. The other day, it was a book about Korea - a "photographic alphabet" called K is for Korea. I think she'd asked for a book about either China or Japan; somehow she ended up with Korea.
In any case, I duly read the book to her one evening, and was amused to find the entry for the letter G:
Perhaps my next blog should be called Ggachi Gamboling.

National bird of Korea? I wonder if it's the National bird or State bird of anywhere else?
Awe, magpies are cute!
What a glorious word!
;)
That is fabulous.
We get the wacky library choices too. Last week was "The Presidents' Rap: From Washington to Clinton!" It was EVEN WORSE than you're imagining.
I like the idea that magpies bring good news. my only experience with them is when they taunted and screamed at our cat for an entire summer. and your wonderful blog of course. you had begun to change my opinion of the creatures and that kid's book has really sold me.
hope to hear you singing some morning!
Please note, you will be allowed to post only good news in the mornings if name changing ensues.
LOL! It would make for an intriguing blog title.
Does she prefer non-fiction? BubTar is always bringing home science books...I love it!
LOL - not quite as catchy, but kind of exotic ;-)
Something pretty cool about the double Gs.
I love finding neat little tidbits like that. Probably why I'm an NPR junkie.
I think I actually HAVE this book at the library.
Better that than those damned "Berenstain Bears". The girls used to bring them home occasionally. Feh...
I like the idea of *you* bringing good news first thing in the morning, Maggie.
Magpies are SO cute! Who knew? Suddenly in the mood for spicy kimchee pancakes... -xoh
