I could sleep for a week and a half.
I realized yesterday that over the past two weeks, I've slept away from home five nights. Five out of fourteen doesn't sound like much, but it was in three different places and spread out one night at a time (Saturday - Wednesday - Saturday - Tuesday - Thursday). It meant that something was always missing because I kept changing bags (the headphones to my iPod, the hairbrush, a Metrocard, the keys to my office). It meant anticipating what I'd want to wear, to read. It meant general discombobulation.
Yesterday, I got up and drove to my mother's house in the morning, picked up my six year old niece, took her and Miss M. to a matinee, and then handed them off to W. He took them back to my mother's to drop off the six year old and then returned home with Miss M. I stayed in the City, wandering around and visiting a friend, killing time before the evening performance. And even though it was the last performance, I left at the second intermission, because I. just. had. to. go. home.
I have an endoscopy on Wednesday. I am looking forward to it - because it is first thing in the morning and I get to spend the rest of the day in bed. Who'd have thought an endoscopy would be something to desire?

Upper or Lower endoscopy?
(I've had both)
wishing you lots of peaceful sleep (even on days you don't have scopes inserted into your body)
rest, babe. just find that rest.
Enjoy your rest! I'll even take an extra nap for you!
You may need to reevaluate your life if and endoscopy is a highlight.
Thinking of you ;)
I so know what you mean about the general discombobulation ... although I never considered an endoscopy the cure. But hey: whatever cranks your tractor.
You certainly do deserve a rest!
Be well and take care.
I can totally get looking forward to the endoscopy...I hope you find that rest--it sounds like you really deserve it!
Sounds like your doctor should decide, and pronto, that one day of recovery will be wholly insufficient, and order you to bed for Thursday as well.
Good luck with the procedure and happy resting. :)
Wow, I can really relate to this. I did catch up on sleep last night (well, relatively). I remember being happy about my c-section at one point because no one would expect anything of me.
"Enjoy" your procedure. And I hope you get some real down time soon. (I can remember a time when I looked forward to going to the dentist because it was the only time when I could lie back while other people took care of me for an hour.)
That sounds like a lot, actually.
My sister had outpatient surgery and REALLY looked forwrd to it. However, she stipulated she had to STAY THERE for the entirety of the "bedrest" portion because she knew no way with four kids was she getting bedrest at home.
She called from the surgery center after the surgery and was so chipper.
"I'm just LAYING HERE, BY MYSELF," and she laughed in delight.
So you are not alone. :)
Hope all is easy and you enjoy the laying about.
Enjoy your time.
ack! you need some real down time. hope the procedure goes well, but seriously, you shouldn't have to wait for a procedure to take a day off.
Hope all goes well and enjoy your rest! I looked forward to my last hospital stay after the birth of my second daughter because I knew I'd have two days where I didn't have to do a thing and all my meals were brought to me!!
oh, hon, try not to run yourself ragged.
hope the endoscopy shows nothing at all...
Oh, it's sad how familiar this sounds (to so many of us). I, too, have looked forward to a "procedure" so I could rest. Deep breaths. Hope all goes well.
Oh, dear. You have good reason to be tired. You've been doing so much. I hope you get lots of rest, and that all goes smoothly with the endoscopy.
Home, the sanctuary. I do envy you your wandering, though. Good luck with the medicaloscopyish-thingy.
Oh Magpie - I hope you've caught up on your sleep by the time I write this...
Oh, honey! I hope this week has been better, and that your procedure went well!
