What better way to waste time on a Friday afternoon than to muse about a new career? According to Career Cruising, which I found through Rome-Colored Glasses, here are my top ten suggested jobs (out of a list of 40):
- Personal Financial Planner
- Certified Public Accountant
- Corporate / Commercial Lawyer
- Research Analyst (Financial)
- Lobbyist
- Economist
- Economic Development Officer
- Customs Broker
- Special Effects Technician
- Judge
I am rather appalled at how boring that all sounds, while at the same time, kind of bemused - I'm neither #1 nor #2, but not all that far off. And I'd be a great judge, but I'd have to be a lawyer first. But, what is #9 doing in there? Does that speak to my penchant for tossing water balloons off the deck?
Most interesting is that nowhere on the list of 40 is a job title that comes close to what I actually do. Maybe that's because "Director of Everything Else" is just too idiosyncratic?

All right! I'm unemployable!
(and a butter tart is a little Canadian snack - it's a mini pie with a gooey syrup-y filling. I might post pictures, if I make them.)
I may have to try that. I'm sure it will come up with the same as any other similar thing I've ever done. Teacher/social worker/human rights activist. All of which I have been or aspire to be. I'm pretty much a book you can judge by the cover.
Lobbyist isn't boring, especially because it involves taking people out to drink nice drinke and eat lovely foods.
these types of things fascinate me. I'm on my way to do mine now.
I like Niobe's list...will you hire me? :)

Using My Words
I find it really interesting that on no one's list have I seen the job of Operations Manager -- and if I had stayed in the corporate world, that's almost certainly the position I would have been holding, or working towards, right now.
COO = "Director of Everything Else"
