Yesterday's Times had a story about Mrs. Astor's will, complete with excerpts and selected bequests. My favorite part was that her daughter-in-law would get a diamond necklace and "my good mink coat and my chinchilla short coat".It begs two questions: 1. who gets the lousy mink coat(s), and 2. aren't there any beaver coats? After all, the Astor money started with John Jacob Astor and the beaver-pelt trade.
And Anne Hathaway got Shakespeare's second-best bed.
