Thanks to the
Gurgling Cod, I learned about a sublimely ridiculous new "necessity" for a nursing mother:
Milk Bands. Words fail me. I suppose I was in an exhausted haze during those early days with Miss M., but it wasn't tricky to remember things like when the baby last nursed and which side. But having to deal with another little thing, like flipping over a bracelet and moving pegs around like a game of cribbage? Nope. Maybe it would be a good thing for some Type A Sanctimommy, but not me.
that's pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there are so many things you can BUY. I remember before I had my baby being really skeptical about all the various items, and assured my husband our house would never be littered with all that crap. Well, we have a ton of stuff, but still nowhere NEAR the amount of stuff available. What a consumerist society. It's kind of distressing, really.
ReplyDeleteYeah that does seem like a bit of over kill, after all how hard is it to feed the baby when he is hungry? Figuring out which boob you used last is not rocket science either. I never kept track of feedings at all, just flew by the seat of my pants.
ReplyDeleteI always used the "reach up and give 'em a squeeze" method of figuring out which breast to use next. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you think that low tech gadget is a pain, you should have a gander at the tracking software that was recently released. It tracks feedings for you and you can sync it with your PDA! As if a new mom has time to pop on the computer and enter data each every feed/diaper/nap, etc? It's ridiculous to the nth degree!
ReplyDeleteI myself used the poke-n-feel method. Which boob is rock-hard? This one? We have a winner!
